Parent University Session – Multiplication and Division

February 15, 2018 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Multiplication and Division  This session will focus on strategies that grade 3 to grade 5 teachers use to develop a conceptual understanding of mulitplication and division. These stratgies are closely linked to the groundwork k to 2 teachers laid with addition and subtraction. Particpants will become fluent using arrays, chip models, area models, partial products and the standard method to solve problems. Presenters will explain why each strategy builds on each other and supports students on their path to the standard method.

Facilitated by Christal Justiana- Riddle; Math Specialist and Jenn Golias; Teacher on Special Assignment for Professional Development.

Does your child’s math homework look like a foreign language? Do you often wonder why your child is learning math in a different way than you did? Are you interested in learning the math strategies your child is learning at school so you can help your child at home?  If you answered yes to any of these questions, please join us for our Parent University series. You may choose to attend all the sessions in the series or pick individual sessions. Childcare will be provided by Niagara-Wheatfield High School Students and refreshments will be provided. All sessions will last from 6 to 7:30 pm.
