Meeting was called to order at 6:50pm by Kelly who welcomed everyone & started the pledge

Officer Reports:

  • Merrie-Carole went over some cards that will be sent out

  • Karin shared the minutes from the January meeting

  • Annette went over the treasurer’s report. Current balance is $17942.59

– The counselors put in a funding request of $150 for career day & new student

orientation. This was approved

  • ​

She will use this in a book study with 4th & 5th grade girls. This was approved.

– Kelly L. asked that a line item of $250 be added for decorations. This was approved.

  • Annette reported the insurance is up for renewal. The cost is $614, which was budgeted for, so she will pay it.

  • Julie reported that the officers approved a onetime increase of $1300 to the art show line

Chairperson Reports:

  • Chocolate sale ends 2/10/17. Get your orders in.

  • Box top contest ends 2/17/17

  • ​

  • Spring pictures will be March 8th. BEN makes money off of every student who is photographed, even if you do not buy any packages.

  • There will be a BOGO Spring book fair on 5/18, 5/19 & 5/22

  • The nominations form from last year was shared. If there are any edits please forward to Karin C. immediately. These will be sent home at the end of Feb. Results will be shared at the next BEN meeting

New Business:

  • The website for BEN is up and running. It looks great. (www.errickroadpto.com)

  • Lego Club registration forms were sent home. Money gets mailed straight to the company. Do NOT send it into BEN. It will take place on 3/2,3/9,3/16 & 3/23

  • Paint Night will be March 10th. The cost is $15/child. The portrait will be a bunny. Look for flyers to come home

  • Flyers for Bandits night are coming home. BEN will have a section in the 300 level. The cost per ticket is $11. The game is Saturday, April 1st.

Other:

  • Nora introduced former BEN president and current TOSA for Niagara Wheatfield, Jen Golias, who shared drafts copies of new report cards

  • BEN members present were asked to take a few minutes to look them over, ask questions & provide feedback

  • They are hoping to pilot this report card in June

  • Some major differences from the current model are:

  • the grade will indicate where your child should be at that point, instead of where they should be at the end of the year

  • Will include studies skills & social skills

  • 4 will no longer be above grade level but in the range of 85-100
