New Business

Update from Nora O’Bryan – Principal

General thank you for all the great participation over the first part of the school year. Donations have been amazing! Love to see all the activities going on in the school this year.

  • Spirit Week starting tomorrow for the next week! Please see schedule sent home
  • 2nd Graders are doing Ginger Bread Houses this year!

Covid update –

Cases have been increasing, however it does not appear to be widely spread in the schools. There has been some staffing issues due to teachers having families in quarantines and such. They have combined some classes as needed to ensure adequate coverage during these instances to keep from going remote.

NCDOH Update – Test out of quarantine – A child in quarantine can test between days 5-7 and return by day 8 instead of 10 if the test comes back negative. Quarantine and release dates are determined by NCDOH. Students must bring in negative results to return.

Spirit Clubs

  • Group A finished today. Group B will end next week
  • We will start a new group after the holiday!

Lego Club

  • Session just  finished. There was a really great turnout this year so we’re looking into running a second session sometime next year.

PBIS

  • You can send in donations for the school store at any time. Any small party items, stickers, cars etc can be great PBIS prizes. Just send in a bag labeled PTO and they will get to the store!

Picture Day Retakes

  • Pictures should be delivered home this week. Let us know if you have any questions or issues!

Teacher Donations

So many donations for the teacher appreciation. Thank you so much for your support. We have organized 3 tables for teachers to “shop” at. Each teacher can pick items from each table to help fill their classroom supplies. We will likely do another round of “shopping” towards the spring.

  • Table 1: Cleaning products, hand soap
  • Table 2: Glue products (office max donated 8 boxes of glue!)
  • Table 3: Random, dry erase, expo, sharpies, pencils, pens

Intramural Sports

  • Session 1 | Grade 5 – October 19 – November 30 – COMPLETE
  • Session 2 | Grade 4 – December 7 – Jan 26 – ON GOING
  • Session 3 | Grade 2 & 3 – February 1 – March 22

Permission slip should come home 2 weeks before grade level starts. 8am on Tuesdays. No supervision before 8am. Do not just drop off. Wait in car until temp checked. Remind App for communication

Perfect Presents

  • Items will be ready for pickup 12.21 from 2:30 – 530pm @ Blue Gym
  • Orders must be picked up or there wont be a chance to get them before break!

Grinch Night

  • Live reading and craft activity will be held via Zoom December 17 @ 6pm
  • Goodie bags should be home today/tomorrow
  • Baggie includes

o   Popcorn, hot chocolate, candy cane,

o   Items for the Grinch craft

Square Art

Information will be coming home end of January. Square art is a service that prints kids artwork on things such as mugs, blankets, magnets etc. The art teacher is working on the square art project with students now
